Abraham Lincoln became the sixteenth president of the United States of America in 1861. Abraham Lincoln was called abe, when he was young. He came of a poor peasant family. He never neglected his studies. He worked on his farm as well. Abe was fond of reading. He borrowed a book " The life of George Washington" from his neighbour. He read it all night.
He noted down the qualities bof Washington, the first president of us the USA. But the book became wet snow, as he had put the book near the window all night. He took the book to his neighbour and said, "I have no money to buy you a new copy so I shall work for you. Abe worked at his neighbour's house for three days. The neighbour was so pleased that he presented the book the book to abe.
